What Death Race Tracking is, how to sign in, and the first few things to do once you are in.
Death Race Tracking is the unofficially official home of the Death Race — the annual challenge of watching every nominee before the ceremony, whether that's the Oscars Death Race, the Mega and Mecha Death Races, or one of the other races on the site. It keeps a list of every film nominated at every race it covers, and lets you tick them off as you watch, rate them, predict the winners and see how you compare to everyone else doing the same thing.
What you can do without an account
You can browse most of the site signed out. What you cannot do is record anything — tracking needs somewhere to save it.
Browse races and nominees
No account
Look through any race, any award year, and every nominated film without signing in.
Film pages
No account
Read a film's nominations, community rating and where it is streaming.
View a shared profile
No account
Open anyone's public profile link without an account of your own.
The full cross-race film list, your progress, ratings, picks, friends and leaderboard position all need an account.
Signing in
There is no password to create. Go to the sign-in page and choose Google or Discord — whichever you already use. An account is free and stays free.
Which one should I pick?
It only matters if you want your existing profile picture pulled across. Otherwise the two are identical. Sign in with the same one each time — signing in with the other creates a separate account.
Your first few minutes
Pick a race
Use the sidebar on the left. Races are grouped into Major Awards, Special Races and Other Races, and the dropdown above them switches award year. See Races, years and categories for how these fit together.
Tick off what you have already seen
On the Films tab, mark everything you have watched. Your progress bar and leaderboard position update immediately.
Rate a few of them
Ratings drive the community average on each film page, and they feed the recommendation and stats tools later on.
Make your picks
Head to the Picks tab and choose who you think will win. Details in Picks and ballots.
Coming from Letterboxd?
Rather than ticking hundreds of films by hand, you can import your watch history. It is a supporter feature — see Stats and extra tools.
Finding your way around
- The sidebar lists the races. On a phone it is behind the menu button at the top left.
- The avatar menu at the top right holds your profile, friends, supporter tools and sign-out.
- The footer has this help section, the changelog, the roadmap and the legal pages.
There is also a short guided tour that runs automatically the first time you sign in. You can turn it back on from Site Preferences on your profile page if you dismissed it and want another look.
