Picks and ballots
Predicting winners in each category, filling in your ballot, and how picks are scored.
A ballot is your prediction for one race and one award year: your four favourite films overall, plus a pick in each category. It is free with any account, and it lives on the Picks tab of the race page.

Predict a winner in each category before the ceremony and see how you did after it.
Open the Picks tab
On any race page, with the year you want selected. Each race and year has its own separate ballot.
Rank your Top 4 overall
Search the nominated films and place them at ranks 1 to 4. Each pick has to be a different film, and you need to set the earlier ranks before the later ones.
Pick a favourite in each category
Work down the category list choosing one nominee in each. You do not have to complete every category.
Picks save as you make them — there is no submit button. You can change any of them at any time, and remove one to leave a category blank again.
Sharing your picks
Ballots are private by default. Nobody can see yours, including your friends.
Turn on Make picks public and two things happen: you get a Copy link button that produces a shareable URL, and your picks become visible through the leaderboards. Anyone with the link can view them, signed in or not, but only you can change them.
Switching sharing back off invalidates the view for anyone holding your link — they will see a message saying the picks are private rather than your old selections.
Ratings are not picks
It is worth keeping the two apart. A rating is what you thought of a film you have watched. A pick is who you think the voters will reward. They often differ, and nothing forces them to agree.

After the ceremony
Once results are entered, winners are marked on the category list and your ballot shows how you did. Ballots stay editable, so an old ballot is a record of what you predicted only if you leave it alone.
